What is the best undergraduate school you think I could get in?
I’m about to be a senior in high school and I want to just know where I stand in terms of my college search. I want to study journalism but I know that in order to be a journalist, it’s not really necessary to major in journalism or even go to that prestigious of a university. I want to go to a school in the Northeast that has a good journalism program. I got a 1900 on my SATs, and I have an unweighted GPA of 3.85 (i’m not sure what it is weighted). I have taken AP English 11 this year, as syracuse restaurant ware 1956 floral patterns well as two college courses provided by both Syracuse University and the SUNY system (SUPA Forensics, SUNY U.S History). Next year I am planning to take two APs (Stat and English 12) as well as one SUNY course (race). My extracurriculars are alright, I think. I have been treasurer of my class, member of the drama club, staff writer turned opinions editor at my school, a peer leader, intern at a local assemblywoman’s office, member of NHS, and I have several community service hours. I also have worked two jobs in the past year. I worked at a local Japanese Restaurant for about six months. Than i got a job at an independent film center; I have been working there since September and I am planning to work there until I finish high school. I don’t want to go to Syracuse because it’s in the middle of nowhere. I’d rather be in an urban environment. Columbia would be amazing, if I could get in. I also really liked GWU but I’m not sure how good the journalism program is. I would like simply to take financial aid out of the equation for now. I could get aid anywhere, I think. Suggestions would be much obliged.
